Lost LeBlanc Remote Video Editor
Please read this entire form carefully before submitting.
I am looking for a remote video editor to join the Lost LeBlanc team. Editor will be assigned weekly editing tasks that will likely take 40 hours a week. This person will not be traveling with me. This will be an independent contractor position. Must be able to edit proficiently with Final Cut Pro X, or willing to learn. Must speak and understand English proficiently. Must provide own laptop/computer that is powerful enough to handle processing very large files. Must provide consistent access to an Internet connection with fast upload/download speeds, since all file transfers for this remote position will be over the Internet. Must be able to work on multiple projects with different deadlines and meet all deadlines.
Upon submitting this application, you will be given a download link to a small batch of files just as you would receive them if we work together. Your task is to edit those files into a Lost LeBlanc video, MAX 2 minutes long. Your application is not complete without it. A successful application will demonstrate high-level editing skills, with the ability to make creative decisions to craft an entertaining and informative story in the “Lost LeBlanc” style. (Hopefully you’ve seen a video or two of mine before!) Do your best to make as complete of a video as possible for my review - music, effects, etc.
Your edit should be a combination of high-quality visual story telling, while keeping up with the raw vlog style story telling. The video should display your ability to take footage from different cameras and scenes and make the video feel continuous and smooth. I would love to see your ability to make this video cinematic without getting too distracted from the storyline. Choice of music and color grading are also a part of the consideration. The video should feel like it is a day with Katy and me in the Yukon. The video should begin with the dog sledding and end with the Northern Lights. Again, 2 minutes maximum!
You will have 72 hours to complete this task, starting the moment you submit this application. Your time is individually tracked. Part of this application process is to test your ability to complete projects throughly and on time, so late submissions will not be considered. When you are finished with the video, you must upload it as unlisted to YouTube and email email@example.com with the link. In your submission email, include “Editor Application - [Your Name]” in the subject line. Regardless of the personal 72-hour period, all videos must be submitted by Sunday, February 10th, at 12 noon Pacific Time. So the sooner the better.
Look forward to seeing your submission!
